Bosnië Day 7

Today was our last day in Bosnia. We went to Sarajevo for an excursion. First we went to see the Olympic Winter Games area and the Olympic hotel (1984). This was truly impressive, staggering and reveiling. The effects of the Balkan war ('92-'95) became visual for all of us in one look at the Olympic hotel. Also the ski jump and ski slope area were interesting. The accompanying story of our guide made it even more unbelievable. The role it played in 1984 as well in the war ten years later.
To make things a bit "lighter" we went on to the center of Sarajevo, where everyone had some free time to spend after a great kebab lunch. Some went shopping, some just went to a café and some went up the mountain with the cable car. Unfortunately, the view was not at best, with the mountain top being fully covered in the clouds. But on the way up and down it gave you a perfect view on the city of Sarajevo. Just beautiful.
Like every night, we had a great last dinner in the restaurant in Konjic. Had a great "going away"-party in the hostel and offered our guide and driver some thank-you-gifts. The next day, we had to get up early to leave for Split (Kroatia) again to finally go back home.
Overall a great trip where we learned much, not just about Bosnia, and everyone experienced a lot of new things on different levels. This group would LOVE to come back and do more voluntary work for Out of Area. I am sure Inholland Pabo will return....
