This was Sunday. Excursion day: first to Jablanica and then to Mostar.
In Jablanica we went to the museum, close to the memorial of the broken bridge. In the World War II president Tito blew up this particular bridge so the Germans could not get onto the island in the middle of the Neretva river.
In Mostar the famous touris attraction is the Mostar Bridge, that has been rebuilt in 2003-2004 after it was destroyed in the Balkan War of '92-'95. The bridge was originally built in the sixteenth century and was a great architectonic importance. The typical arc was a first in its kind. Since 2005 the bridge has been registered on the World Heritage list of UNESCO.
At night we had dinner in Konjic, a quaint little town close to our overnight accommodation: chicken and chips, so everyone happy.
The currency here is KM (konvertibilia marka, or convertible marks). 1 Mark is approximately 50 eurocents (€0,50). A glass of lemonade is 2 marks and a glass of wine 3 KM.
At night we decided on the plan for the school for this week: paint both classrooms (not the ceiling), and put new floor boards in. We might not be able to do the latter ourselves completely, if the materials cannot be delivered in time. In that case we will have the company finish it for us after we leave.
